Well, you know that he lost his accessory nut structures, right? Prostate et al. that is...as one that shared the experience, I can say with confidence, it sucks--and it beats gout too, which I know as well. But, we shouldn't be trying to one up one another with the pains of being elderly, eh? Beats the alternative.

Here's a medical new flash for you: front page report, "disease" of dementia is increasing by leaps and bounds...that's it...why, by 2050, one of two US folk will have it.

So, what's the issue? It's not unlike the following: front page news, "grey hair" is increasing by leaps and bounds...why, by 2050, one of two US folk will be afflicted.

Sorry, rambling there, but you get the idea...getting older has consequences. Pure and simple. So does extending life expectancy to such extremes.

Hope I die before I grow old?

This getting old shit is not for the faint of heart, so any additional paranoia about dementia is totally unnecessary. I'd prefer to think that dementia will be a blessing in disguising the physical nature of coming apart at the seams.

Since we seem to be swapping war stories, I've had the pleasure of suffering a spinal cord injury resulting in a series of symptoms known as "saddle anesthesia." Better explained as a mild paralysis from the chest to the knees, effecting all the internal organs and exterior muscles in that zone.

So only parts of me have died before I got old. The rest of me is waiting around for the coup de'grace. I must admit though in my 53rd year I'm in better shape than our bud Jerry. RIP.

That's the spirit, E! Likewise, at 52ish, I think I am at least a decade ahead of Jerry's status at the same point...and yeah, at least with increasing dementia, I will be less and less aware of my situation, or at least I can hope the physical appreciation (?) will be the first to go...damn, if not, I am screwed!

"Hope I die before I grow old? "

I may grow old, but I don't intend to grow up any time soon.
